Filmmaker Karan Johar could not have hoped for a more befitting acknowledgement of his latest work.

Love it or hate it, but you can’t ignore Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna . The masses have liked the film immensely even though some critics may have panned it in harsh words. Many have found the movie thought provoking, others have trashed it as three-and-a-half hours of overblown sentimentality.

Amid all these bouquets and brickbats, Karan Johar is the one on cloud nine, basking in the super success of his film.

And now, in yet another acknowledgement of Karan’s work, the script of ‘KANK’ has been invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for its Margaret Herrick Library.

As a part of the library’s huge collection, the movie’s script will be accessible to film students, directors, producers, writers and actors for study and research work.

‘KANK’ is the second film by Johar to have got this honour. In the past, his Kal Ho Na Ho , which was only produced by Johar and directed by Nikhil Advani, was acquired by the Academy’s library.

By the way, ‘KANK’ is headed to this year’s Toronto Film Festival, beginning September 7. The film is a part of the festival’s Gala Presentation and will be shown at Roy Thomson Hall on September 10, Sunday, at 1:30 PM. A re-screening is also scheduled for the next day.

Karan Johar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are expected to attend the screening.
