BJP circles are agog with rumours that 'mine lord' and Tourism Minister G. Janardhan Reddy has made up his mind to quit the Cabinet. The sources said Reddy is quitting in disgust after his attempts to stall entry of Umesh Katti into the Cabinet failed.
MLAs close to Reddy told Star of Mysore yesterday that Reddy, a bete noire of Katti, had been opposing tooth and nail the attempts of Katti to join BJP following Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's invitation.
Katti's entry was delayed in view of Reddy's opposition. His joining of BJP was possible only after Reddy left for London on an official tour.
Reddy suspects that by allowing leaders of a particular community, Yeddyurappa was building his own lobby only to contain the influence of Reddy brothers.
According to sources, Reddy, soon after his return in a couple of days, is expected to submit his resignation to Party President D.V. Sadanandagowda before the Chief Minister returns from US tour on Sept. 7.
