Has Malayalam megastar Mammootty decided to take the political plunge?
Speculation is rife about Mammootty's increasing political profile in the wake of the news that he will inaugurate the four-day all India conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the CPI (M), to be held in Chennai from May 7.
Incidentally, Mammootty happens to be the chairman of the CPI (M)-controlled Malayalam TV Channel, Kairali. The channel, which was in bad shape, had turned round financially after Mammookka, as he is known among his innumerable fans, took control of it.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, the megastar is enjoying mega success with his latest films, Mayavi and Big B doing roaring business at the box office.
He will soon start working in another prestigious project titled ‘Pazhassi Raja’, the script of which has been penned by celebrated Malayalam writer M. T. Vasudevan Nair. Hariharan is the director of the film, which will have three heroines, including Padmapriya and Sneha .
The Mammootty-MT-Hariharan has come out with many a winner in the past, prominent among them being ‘Oru Vadakkan Veerfagadha’, which won for Mammootty the national award for best actor.
