She is one actor who defines oomph in Bolywood - but Bipasha Basu's effort to go in for a serious image make over is being taken rather seriously. Naomi Datta on Entertainment Now speaks with the actor who will be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's ‘Corporate’ that releases next week.
Interview excerpts
N: Bipasha, you’ve lots of releases coming up this year – there’s ‘Corporate’, there’s ‘Dhoom 2’. What are you most excited about?
B: Well, can’t really pick one, because all are good. One is realistic – that’s ‘Corporate’, then an action-comedy and a visual delight – ‘Dhoom 2’. So I think I’m going to be pretty selfish and I’ll say that all my films are pretty good.
N: Let’s talk briefly about ‘Corporate’. You’re playing this hard-nosed businesswoman...
B : Yes well, I would say the character Nishigandha Dasgupta that I’m playing, is today’s woman who’s ambitious. It’s not that she does a lot of hanky-panky to reach where she is – she is a disciplined woman, but at home she’s vulnerable.
N: You’re doing Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Corporate’ on one hand – he’s a national award winner and it’s coming after ‘Page 3’. You’re also doing ‘Dhoom 2’...where we hope to see a very oomphy Bipasha. Will we see that?
B: Yes, that’s what’s nice, when you put these two pictures together – my picture in ‘Dhoom 2’ and in ‘Corporate’ – it will look like they’re two different human beings altogether. And that’s the fun of being an actress I guess. And I think for a person like me who has a very glamourous image, getting to do this all and yet be called a sex symbol – I don’t mind it at all. Because at the end of the day, as an actress I’m absolutely satisfied. I’m getting the kind of roles I want to do.
