In the news not so long ago for allegedly being harrassed by the Income Tax Department, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan denies speculation that he's been a victim of the current administration.

In an excerpt of the interview with CNN-IBN's Rajeev Masand, the actor talks about the controversy.

Rajeev Masand: You recently received an honorary doctorate from a University in UK that was also endorsed by the House of Commons. In any way did that feel like a vindication specially since it came in a time when most of your fans in India felt that you were being singled out and victimised by the powers that are in your own country.

Amitabh Bachchan: No there has been no victimisation. I don’t read too much of what the media writes about the system alleging me. These are things that we all go through. There are courts, a legal system, rules and regulations and there is a Constitution, which lead us. Besides that there are Bureaucrats and officers who do what is required of them. I don’t think it is possible for any Government or any powers that rule to deliberately go out chasing somebody because at the end of the day there is a Court and there judges who will judge on the case that you have projected to them. So I don’t think that it is possible and I would not like to believe that happened. I am very content and happy with what is happening. I believe that if you have a high profile and if you are a celebrity or famous, things that you do will be written about and talked about.

Watch the entire interview Bachchan and Beyond on August 13, Sunday at 5:30 pm and 9:30 pm only on CNN-IBN. The transcript would be available on ibnlive.com
