Actor Salman Khan on Friday asserted that neither he nor his family was against migrants.
In a press note, Khan stated: “Me and my family have been unnecessarily dragged into the entire migration issue with regards to North Indians. The media story stating our support with regards to this issue is misrepresented and I can confirm that me and my family have not made any statement or endorsed any campaign that supports this issue.”
“We ourselves being originally migrants are not in any position to support such claims. My father is a migrant who lived in Madhya Pradesh and my mother comes from Jammu and that qualifies us as migrants. We are a secular nationalistic family with members from different faiths, different communities. I think this matter has unnecessarily been blown out of proportion with regards to my family.”
Salman and his father Salim had signed a campaign conducted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) against the gag order imposed by the state government on its president Raj Thackeray. MNS has already clarified that the actor has supported them against the gag order and not on the migrants issue.
MNS Foundation Day: The MNS cancelled the celebration of its second foundation day on March 9 after the BMC denied it permission to hold a rally at Shivaji Park.
