Bollywood hearthrob and action hero Hrithik Roshan is obviously proud of his performance in Koi Mil Gaya because he says it is the first film of his that he would like son Hrehaan to watch when he grows up.
"By the time he is of age to watch a movie...there would hopefully be a Krrish series...so I think I will start with that...I think I will start with the Krrish series which was Kyoi Mil Gaya to Krrish," he told CNN-IBN
"Kyoi Mil Gaya marks a very special phase in my life..Not just in my career but also as an actor. It felt as if I was acting for the first time," he said.
He candidly admitted that before Koi Mil Gaya he always had reference points for enacting his scenes as the hero, having grown up observing his favorite movie stars do similar scenes.
However when confronted with his role as the mentally challenged Rohit Mehra in Kyoi Mil Gaya he was suddenly on his own.
"Suddenly I had no reference points...I had no support...I had no one to turn to....I was just left in the lurch and I was very scared and I said what do I do now?"
While Hollywood and Bollywood actors have essayed roles of mentally challenged people, such as Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man, Hrithik explained that he could not use them as a guide since Kyoi Mil Gaya was a unique mix of reality and fantasy that required him to dance laugh and cry while being mentally challenged.
Roshan will be next seen in Aditya Chopra's Dhoom 2 due for release on 24 Nov 2006. Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi the film pairs Roshan with Bollywood's leading lady Aishwarya Rai for the first time. The cast includes Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Rimi Sen and John Abraham
Dhoom 2, which features some exhilarating stunts, is likely to catpult Roshan to the very top as the undisputed Bollywood action hero.
Roshan himself admits that the stunts in Dhoom 2 are more daring than those in Krrish.
"Oh, far more daring. Allan Amin and I are working on some of the most audacious stunts ever seen or rather never seen in our films. I don’t think audiences have ever seen such action. Yes, they’re risky. But I’m taking calculated risks. You can’t cross frontiers until you take a risk."
A super hero or an action hero, call him what you may, Roshan is also a serious actor who picks his role carefully looking for challenge and diversity. After Dhoom 2 we will see him in Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha-Akbar, once again opposite Aishwarya Rai. He has also been reportedly signed up for Serendipity Films adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet set in modern-day India, directed by Onir (My Brother... Nikhil, Bas Ek Pal)
