Model-turned-actress Katrina Kaif says the promise of immortality on the silver screen and the adulation of fans are the lures that attract people to the movies.
Kaif was a model in London and India before she made her Bollywood debut in 2003. She says the dream of being part of unforgettable films drew her to acting.
``Films are absolute magic for me,'' she said in an interview published in the July issue of the movie magazine Stardust. ``For me, it's not so much the stars in the film that I love, as much as films in their entirety that have beautiful stories.''
The support of fans and the money earned from the movies were important, Kaif said, but the desire to work in films that people wouldn't forget was the main appeal.
London-born Kaif, who has a British mother and an Indian father, says movies such as ``Gone With The Wind'' and ``Casablanca'' were exemplary.
``These kind of films live forever, they're great, they're classics and immortal,'' said Kaif. ``You live in people's memories forever ... And for me, it's that which makes it beautiful, being part of something that you love.''
After a couple brief supporting parts in Bollywood movies, Kaif has begun playing lead roles.
Her most recent Hindi-language movie was ``Humko Diwana Kar Gaye,'' or ``You've Made Me Crazy.'' She has also starred in Telugu and Tamil-language films in southern India's movie industry.
