The producers of the Anil Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan starrer, Race, were faced with a nightmare recently. A hard disk crash at the post-production studio, Sound City in Andheri, caused most of the dubbed portions of the film to be erased. And this when the film is two weeks away from release.
Major scenes of actors Anil Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan and an important scene of Akshaye Khanna were erased from the hard disk. According to sources, the hard disk crashed and all the scenes that the actors had dubbed for went for a toss. The film is set for a release on March 21 and the filmmakers were in for a shock as most of the actors working in the film are big and busy stars. Getting them back to the dibbing studio seemed an almost impossible task. Directors Abbas-Mustan and producer Ramesh Taurani of Tips hit the panic button to get the actors to redub for the film.
Anil Kapoor confirmed the fact, saying that the computer at Sound City had crashed and since there was no back up, he had to re-dub some of his scenes. One of them, a commentary sequence he says, was quite stressful. But he went through with it and completed his portion as the film's release is just round the corner. Mustan, of the Abbas-Mustan duo, still seems to be in a state of shock. He said that this was the first time that such a thing had happened to them. They are not sure how it happened but guess it was because the machine hung and the dubbed portions just vanished.
