All is not well in the CPI. The top leadership in the state, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy and Narayana are all for a separate Telangana. But the central council members and many affiliate trade union of the CPI, including AITUC are for a unified Andhra Pradesh.

The two Communist parties the CPM and the CPI are holding divergent views on this issue. The CPM is not yet in favour of a separate Telangana. But the CPI state leadership has gone on record that the CPI would press for a separate Telangana.
