 Dasari Narayana Rao has instituted awards for Best Director, Best New Director and Best Journalist. The Dasari Awards as they will be known have been announced for the year 2008. The Best Director award goes to Krish of Gamyam fame. The Best New Director award will be conferred on Srikanth Addala for Kotha Bangaru Lokam Senior film journalist BA Raju has been chosen for the Best Journalist award. The awards will be presented at a function to be held on Dasari’s birthday on May 4.

The Tamil movie Pokkiri has been judged as the best film and its director Prabhudeva as best director. Awards for the best director and actors carry a cash award of Rs.50,000 each and the best film Rs.1 lakh.
