After Lalu Prasad Yadav presented a populist budget without increasing railway fares, it was obvious that union finance minister would follow up with a popular and populist budget
The budget presented by P Chidambaram has announced several sops with an eye on the next general elections.
The income tax concessions, excise duties exemptions and loan waiver for farmers are all indicators of impending general elections. The prices cars and two wheelers, computers etc will come down as a result of reduction in excise duty.
