The chief minister Y D Rajashekar Reddy’s trump card – the Rs. 2 a kil0 rice scheme has met with cold reception from the congress high command. The scheme entails an additional expenditure of about 1012 crore per annum on the exchequer.
YSR tried to pass on the burden to the centre. He hoped that the central government would chip in with the amount needed to launch the rice scheme. The centre is reported to have rejected his request to subsidise the rice scheme. The CM will now have to think up of some way to implement the scheme.
