Celina Jaitley does not believe in new year resolutions. “Sometimes I end up exceeding my own expectations. It’s better to take life as it comes,” says the Bollywood star who was in town on Tuesday for an event. .
She landed in the city around 12.40 pm and after a quick spiff-up at ITC Sonar Bangla was ready for the show. HT City caught up with her while she was on her way to the venue.
Though she had not bothered about resolutions, Celina had a blast on New Year’s Eve in Goa with friends and cousins. “I have bought a hundred-year-old Portugese bungalow there,” says Celina who is still relishing the response her performance in Mukta Arts’ Apna Sapna Money Money has generated.
“Sania Badnam (her name in ASMM) seems to have become my nickname,” she says, adding that she was initially too scared to watch the movie.
“And I kept my phone off. Subhashji (Ghai) called me and asked me to read reviews on the Internet. I found out that people were raving about Riteish (Deshmukh) and me,” says Celina who feels that she owes her success to the team of ASMM, especially co-star Suniel Shetty.
She doesn’t want to be in any rat race and would prefer “racing against myself.” And she doesn’t mind making a few sacrifices for a role. “My hair got burnt while shooting and I had to cut about eight inches of it,” she adds.
Vikram Bhatt’s suspense thriller Red and Suneel Darshan’s Shakalaka Boom Boom are her forthcoming films. There’s also a new one with Mukta Arts (she is on a three-film contract with the production house).
The bombshell from Bengal has her career strategy in place. “I just hope that people love to watch any film I do even ten years down the line… I would like to do more movies like No Entry and Janasheen. I am now looking forward to the sequel to No Entry ”
That means not more than three films a year unlike her contemporaries because “every movie requires tremendous concentration.”
