The TRs may have stood first in the by polls by bagging 7 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats. But the real picture is totally different and quite alarming.
The support base of the TRS has shrunk drastically. The party stood a distant third in as many as 8 assembly seats. This, for a party that is supposed to riding on the back of a strong ‘Telangana’ sentiment is not only surprising but also shocking.
What is worse, KCR just about managed to scrape through in Karimnagar. His victory margin shrunk from two lakh plus in 2006 to just 15,000 in 2008. The TRS candidate Chandrashekar even lost his deposit in Vikarabad.
Now there is some talk that the rebel party MLAs are in ouch with the newly elected MLAs and urging them to cross over.
T Jayaparakash Reddy, a bitter critic of KCR and a prominent rebel MLA has announced that he will storm the TRS party headquarters the ‘Telangana Bhavan’ with about 50,000 party workers and take control of it.
