 July is going to be plentiful for Malayalam cinema. The superstars and others have an impressive list of releases. Let us hope the monsoon subsides by next week as many biggies are due to clash. As of now on July 4 Wednesday, Dileep’s (his lucky date and American Independence day) July 4, directed by Joshy with Roma as the leading lady is due for release. Will July 4 magic once again come to Dileep’s rescue? A day later, on July 5, Thursday Mohanlal’s first film with the comedy king director duo Rafi-Mecartin is due for release. Mohanlal in a comedy role as a drunken advocate is said to be rocking. Lal ettan needs a big comedy hit to hold on to his top slot. On July 12, Mammootty’s Mission 90 days is scheduled for release. The stills of the film look very impressive. The film is an out and out action thriller from writer director Major Ravi, who won a state award for his last years Mohanlal super hit army story Keerthichakra. For Mammooka it is important that the film clicks. And on July 14, the number one director in Malayalam cinema Lal Jose, who understands the popular pulse, is back with his Sreenivasan- Zhang Shu Min, a Chinese girl(see pic) starrer Arabikatha. Can Lal Jose repeat his Classmates success? Suresh Gopi’s murder mystery on a train Nadiya Kolapetta Ratri, directed by K. Madhu is a very important film for Gopi. He needs a hit badly to salvage his career. The film also has Kavya Madhavan , and is scheduled for release on July 20. Can Kerala theatres find playing time for these films? Who will win the post-monsoon box-office? Watch this space!

Fourth of July as it is known was the day when United States of America consisting of 13 colonies in 1776 declared their independence from Great Britain. Well in Kerala, July 4 is the day when Malayalam star Dileep releases his film! It is his lucky date, as all his comedy films released on that day have been big hits like C.I.D Moosa and last year’s Chess etc. Dileep is not bothered whether that day is a Friday or a working day, he has released it even o more `July-4`-on-July-5!  Dileep's July 4 scheduled to release on July 4 has been shifted to July 5. Lal Jose has preponed his Sreenivasan anti- communist film Arabikatha by a week. Now the film will release on July 5, taking on July 4 as it carries very good reports. Mohanlal and Rafi- Mecartin together for the first time in the laugh riot Hello is releasing now on July 6, Friday. The film has got the best of theatres, and is also releasing simultaneously in Bangalore and Chennai. All eyes are on Mammootty's Mission more Three-big-releases-on-a-single-day  July 5 was not so auspicious day or the start of a lucky season to launch the big movies, till this year. But today, three big films, all from great stars and directors greeted the Kerala audience. The biggest among the lot is definitely Mohanlal's Hello which was released in 49 centres in the state. The film has five 5 shows daily in almost every centres. Dileep, who was not able to release his latest film on his lucky day, July 4, released it today on July 5. The film opened in 42 centres across the st more Dileep-returns!!!  After a gap of more than five months, Dileep is now ready with his new release. On the 5th of July, his 'July 4' was released. The film drew mixed results at the box office and turned out to be a very forgettable average grosser. Since then, there haven't been any new releases for the actor. But, on the 20th of December, Dileep and his fans will breathe a sigh of relief because his new film hits the theatres that day. No, it is not going to be 'Kolkotta News'. The producer and director of the film still more AAA-have-as-many-as-3-weeks-to-prove-their-supremacy  AAP KA SURROOR, AWARAPAN and APNE - the three films that are getting into a battle royale at the box office on June 29th need not worry about screen space. Once the initial battle passes off on the opening weekend, the BIG war takes place on an open ground as the films gets as there are no new releases planned for as many as 3 weeks after their release. Picture this. On July 6 there is no film that has announced it's release date whereas on July 13th, Vikram Bhatt directed FEAR is expected to arrive though c more Tanushree-has-4-and-not-3-back-to-back-releases  Ever since the promotion of RAQEEB began, there was widespread news about number of film releases which Tanushree Dutta would be seeing in coming days. It was being mentioned that she had 3 back to back releases beginning with GOOD BOY BAD BOY [which came a week before] followed by RAQEEB [which came last Friday]. Apart from these two films, the third movie that was being mentioned in the same vein was Priyadarshan's DHOL which is expected in the month of July. But hold on, there is one more Another-good-summer-ends  Similar to the summer of 2006, this summer too witnessed the better run of some Malayalam films. Among the films released in April – May Vinodhayatra became a big hit, while Chotta Mumbai and Big B are sure to break even. Vinodhayatra is continuing in more than 22 release centers even in its 55th day while Chotta Mumbai and Big B are continuing in around 10 centers across the state. Kamal's Goal and Prithviraj's Khakhi also shows signs of becoming profits to their producers. There will not b more Dileep-starrer-gets-good-opening  Dileep's last film, July 4, released on July 5, failed at the box office and he did not have any release for almost five months now. As such, Dileep had high expectations from his recently released Romeo. Romeo, a slapstick entertainer directed by Rajsenan and scripted by Rafi Mecartin, had a good opening. Dileep plays a home male nurse and Vimala Raman, Samvrutha Sunil and Shruthi Lekshmy play the female leads.
