With elections now a distinct possibility in 2008, al the parties are now gearing up to brace themselves for them. The ruling congress is making efforts to project itself as a farmer friendly government by announcing the waiver of loans taken by farmers. YS Rajasehkar Reddy is also highlighting the pet schemes like Indiramma and the work on the irrigation projects.
Babu is now trying to project himself as a champion of the farmers. He has gone ahead and claimed the credit for the announcement of the relief package for farmers by Chidambaram in the union budget. The BJP fro the first time, took part in a rally conducted by Babu the other day.
Politics makes for strange bedfellows. The TDP fought the election along with BJP and dumped them after coming to power. The BJP National leadership is for a separate Telangana and is working towards some sort of an alliance with the TRS. Babu also wants to enter into a strategic alliance with the BJP.
The elections are sure to turn up some strange permutations and combinations in the state. The Chiranjeevi factor is also weighing very prominently among all political parties in the state.
