Will Sanjay Dutt be part of Sanjay Gupta’s Alibaug anymore?
When Sanjay Dutt went to prison, no one knew when he'd be out to complete his assignments. Sanjay Gupta, too seems to have had his doubts. Why else would the producer start scouting for an actor to replace Dutt in his forthcoming film Alibaug?
Gupta, apparently, began calling up other actors to get into Dutt's shoes. Our well-placed source in the industry says, “Gupta summoned Vishwajeet Pradhan to do Dutt's role.” To date, Dutt has shot for a total of 12 days for the film.
When we contacted Sanjay Gupta to ask him about this, he got irritated and said, “I don't want to talk about it.” A few minutes later, Hansal Mehta (CEO, White Feather Films) called up to say, “We are waiting for Dutt's dates.”
On the other hand, when we called Dutt he asked us, “I have no idea. Am I being replaced?”
However, Pradhan finally spilled the beans on this. “Yes, I got a call from White Feather Films on the same day that Dutt was arrested, the last time. They said that they had made some changes in Dutt's role and wanted me to play it, and complete shooting the climax,” he said.
Pradhan added, “I called up Dharam Oberoi (who is now the CEO of Sanjay Dutt productions) to inform them that I had been offered Dutt's role. Oberoi said that I was free to do whatever I felt.”
Then why didn't he seize the opportunity and take the role? Pradhan explained, “I couldn't agree to do the role. I have a very good relationship with Dutt and I felt that it wouldn't be right on my part to do his role.”
Above all, Pradhan who is working on Shagird, Anamika, My Daddy Strongest and an animation fuilm Raju The Joker added that he doesn't think that Sanjay will complete the film. “I don't know what transpired after that but I didn't get a call from White Feather again. I don't know the status now.” he said.
