An emergency Meeting was held by the Kannada Film Producers Union on Friday evening with its 150 member team and came to concrete decision to withhold all the muhuraths of Kannada films from the 2 nd of October until their problems are solved. This meeting was headed by Sandesh Nagaraj, Producers Association President and Smt.Parvathamma Rajkumar. Sa.Ra.Govindu and Rockline Venkatesh extended their support to the decisions taken by the Gild even though they have not attended the meeting on Friday.
A statement made by one of the exhibitors saying that - Can any Kannada hero give a confirmation that all the four shows of his films would be full? - has annoyed many members of the Kannada film industry.
Kannada films have been suffering from a loss of nearly Rs.60 crores from more than 50 films released in the last nine months. This is considered as an important reasons to come to the above decision.
The following are measures to be taken:
* From the 2nd of October no film is going on to the floor.
* Action is going to be taken against films that break the agreement.
* For non Kannada films a maximum of 6 prints are allowed in Karnataka. Films like Stalin and Boss which are coming with more than 30 prints are dominating the other films.
* Threatre rentals have to be reduced.
* Production cost of Kannada films are to be cut down.
* The Gild is expecting solutions to the problems from the Cinema Workers Federation, OKKUTA.
