Kamal Hassan's magnum opusDasavatharam, produced by Oscar Ravichandran and directed by K.S Ravi Kumar will have its audio launch on Sunday April 2 at Chennai's Nehru Stadium. And the chief guest at the function will be none other than Asia's biggest action hero Jackie Chan.
The audio launch which was earlier slated on March 14 has been postponed to suit Chan's availability. Now the big question the trade is asking is whether the film will be postponed to May, since the audio launch is happening only on April 2? For big movies normally there is a gap of one month between audio launch and theatrical release.
Oscar Ravichandran, the producer of the film is a risk taker, as he is distributing himself the film worldwide. Though a Mumbai based corporate has offered him Rs 55 crores for worldwide theatrical rights, he is looking at a much higher price.
Ravi is keeping to his earlier date of April 10 as release date, but the trade feels it is impossible and may come out only in May. Ravi wants the film to take a bumper opening without any competition from Hollywood and Bollywood summer biggies that are due in May.
So it looks like Ravi will release Dasavatharam on April 10 or 18 the latest, to get the big solo release advantage.
