The biggest worry at big companies is not the strengthening of the rupee against the Us Dollar. The issue is attrition. The heavy rate of attrition even at big IT majors is the cause of concern for the big wigs at these companies.
While companies normally do not revel or admit to this, it is causing a lot of headache to the HR department.
The list of companies that are battling attrition reads like a who’s who of the Indian Software Industry. Infosys, Wipro, TCS and Satyam are some of the companies that have been hit hard in recent times. A look at the figures will reveal the true picture. About 2,500 people quit TCS while more than 2,000 put in their papers at Infosys.
The situation is no different at Wipro either. Satyam saw about 1,600 leaving the firm this year. The attrition rates are at very high levels, anywhere between 15 to 25 per cent.
