Aamir Khan has won the Gollapudi Srinivas Award for his directorial debut in Tare Zameen Par.
Actor Kamal Hassan and Director Singitam Srinivasa Rao were among the jury members. The film was chosen from 19 nominations from across the country.
Aamir Khan will be in Chennai on August 12 to collect the award, which comprises a cash prize of Rs 1, 50,000 and a memento.
The Gollapudi foundation was set up in 1998 by well known Telugu writer Gollapudi Maruti Rao in memory of his son Srinivas, who died in a freak accident during the shooting of his first film.
From then on the trust has been identifying the best Indian Directorial Talent in feature films.
