Real-life couples tend to stay as far away as possible from the screen. After the fiasco of Madhosh a few years ago, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu had decided not to work together again for a while.
But now, the two will share screen space in Vivek Agnihotri’s Goal .
“Bipasha and I just didn’t have the opportunity to come together. The offers being made to us weren’t tempting. We feel Goal is a perfect movie for both of us. I’ve played A-division soccer and was the captain of the football team in school and college. Soccer is in my blood, just like bikes,” said John Abraham
So which one does John prefer?
“Soccer was a favourite in school and I have a fancy for bikes now. I never rode bikes in the school, so football was my passion then,” John says.
As a youth icon John takes his responsibilities very seriously.
“As an actor it’s important for me to be a good role model. Whenever I consider an offer, this responsibility is always on the back of my mind,” he added.
But what about the villain in Dhoom and the smoker in No Smoking ?
“When people see the larger picture in No Smoking , they won’t imitate my smoking. My character goes through so many upheavals.”
Interestingly John used to be a smoker.
“I quit smoking but took it up for the movie. I’m strong enough to not become a smoker again. If anything happens to me we’ll all go to hospital together. Everyone on the sets smokes quietly. Since it’s banned on the sets, we sneak into a corner collectively for a puff.”
