It might sound strange but Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba's dream role is that of a war journalist, not in reel but in real life.

And this young actress does not go by the dictates of the times but likes to do things that appeal to her heart.

Like yesteryears' heroine Sharmila Tagore in "Kashmir Ki Kali" and Bollywood's leading heroine Preity Zinta in "The Hero: Love Story of a Spy", Minissha also played the role of a Kashmiri girl in her debut film "Yahan".

In the Capital recently to launch an outlet of Café Coffee Day, Minissha said: "We have witnessed stereotyped portrayal of a Kashmiri girl in quite a few Hindi films. Although I am a Sikh girl, I stayed in the picturesque Valley for two years and could easily relate to my character in `Yahan' ".

Paired opposite actor Jimmy Shergill, the film was about a local girl (Minissha) who falls in love with an Indian Army officer. Stating that a film should not be acknowledged only in terms of its box-office value, the actress says: "By picking a sensitive and complex issue and handling it effectively, the film has definitely made a mark in Indian cinema. I know mostly people buy a Rs.150 ticket only to see a film that has loads of entertainment and gives them a feel-good-factor. My debut film directed by Shoojit Sircar was for those who want to know about modern day India. I am sure the film will be acknowledged five years down the line because of its handling of a sensitive subject in an aesthetic manner."

Pinning a lot of hope on her just released film "Rocky", Minissha says she is playing a character who is full of life and finds out positive things even in negative happenings. Basically a love story that also has some action scenes, the film has Zayed Khan as the protagonist. "Contrary to some media speculation, Zayed Khan is not at all snobbish. In fact, he is a warm and genuine person who goes out of his way to make his co-stars comfortable. Moreover, he is a down-to-earth and helpful person. Work becomes a pleasure if you are comfortable with the actors around you," adds the actress. As for the infamous casting couch in the Hindi film industry, Minissha says that every profession has some sort of exploitation. "There can be financial or emotional exploitation in any profession. On account of its glamour element, Bollywood is an easy target."

The young actress aspires to work with superstar Aamir Khan and wants to act out actress Kate Winslet's role of Rose in the highly-acclaimed Hollywood film "Titanic". Among filmmakers, Mani Ratnam is her favourite. Revealing that her character in Hindi film "Anthony Kaun Hai" is not at all like "Yahan", the actress says it is not just a thriller but also has shades of comedy. "It is a plot-driven film. I am playing the role of a Non-Resident Indian."

Revealing that she wants to do different roles, the actress says she is open to the idea of playing a glamorous role in Hindi films. "Glamorous roles are not looked down upon in Bollywood. Acting just happened to me. I was shooting for an advertisement for Cadbury when my director disclosed that he was making a film and wanted me to act in it. It took me four weeks to convince myself and my parents."

Stating that she wants to do reporting from war-ravaged places, Minissha says while pursuing English (Honours) at Delhi University's Miranda House, she was enamoured of war journalist Christiane Amanpour of CNN. "Even now, I want to do reportage in war-ravaged places. Basically I am an adventurous sort of person."
