For a scared man, even the darkness will terrorise. After the recent bomb blasts in Mumbai, there’s general suspicion and panic everywhere. When an errant fan spread rumours that a terrorist was hiding in actor Surya’s house, it caused panic in the household. Actor Sivakumar has denied the allegations.
This is what he had to say to the reporters. An ardent fan from Malaysia has been making umpteen calls daily for the past 2 weeks to speak to Sivakumar, saying he has a story ready and wants to make it into a film. Even if Sivakumar could not attend the phone, he wanted atleast his mobile phone number and he would call at a time when the actor would be free to converse with him. “I am anyway going to tell him I do not act in films any more. To avoid unpleasantness, I usually ask my assistant to handle such calls. The caller said his name is Kasidatto and that Lal is his pet name.”
When his Malaysian friends have egged him that it would not be possible for him to talk with Sivakumar or Surya , he has taken it as a challenge. Regardless of the number of times he has telephoned, only Sivakumar’s assistants have replied. When the bomb blasts occurred in Mumbai, he took the opportunity to spread the rumour that a terrorist was hiding in Sivakumar’s house in the hope that at least now the actor would respond to his call.
“He has already given his phone number in Malaysia but I have not bothered to check if it is a true one since I anyway do not intend to act in any film. When this news appeared in yesterday’s papers, some reporter friends called me up. But I was in Coimbatore. Surya joined me later in the evening.
This news has appeared in some English papers this morning. I immediately called up DGP Mukherjee and Commissioner Lathika Saran. Mahatma Gandhi asked for his killer to be pardoned. This person must have acted as he did because of love for me, so I requested the police to pardon him and not file a case.”
