Let’s have a glance at the list:
Bengali films received National Level best film award for 20 times.
Hindi for 11 times.
Malayalam for 8 times.
Kannadam for 6 times.
Marathi, Sanskrit for 2 times each.
Assami and Tamil for 1 time.
The immediate perplexity in which we’ll fall is ‘Why didn’t Telugu films receive best film awards at National Level?
- Telugu film industry is the second largest after Bollywood.
- Our industry is spending the highest money on publicity. Yet, what could be the reason?
- NTR missed best hero award (Badipantulu) with only one vote. (Sanjeev Kumar got it)
- SVR’s master-make ‘Bangarupapa’ was to get best film award, but succumbed by Bengali ‘Pather Panchali’ (for some years, ‘Satyajit Ray=Award’ tendency was maintained).
- MG Ramachandran received best actor award for ‘Rikshakaran’ which was highly debated.
- Let’s have a glance of these: 'Mabhumi', 'Dasi', 'Sankarabharanam', ‘Swatimutyam’. They, undoubtedly deserve the awards. Yet, why didn’t they get? It is widely accepted tone that, the award winning involves lobbying, influencing, Politicising etc.
And ---- …. Telugu film makers were never interested in the above.
Now the riddle is solved.
