The congress party chief and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi made a flying visit to the state today. Sonia arrived in a special plane in Hyderabad and landed at the Shamshabad airport. She left for an aerial survey of the flood affected districts by a helicopter.
Sonia Gandhi was accompanied by P Chidambaram, Veerappa Moily, Chief Minister K Rosaiah and PCC chief D Srinivas. None of the ministers or MPs or MLAs were allowed to meet Sonia Gandhi at the airport. more
Sonia re-elected UPA chief
Sonia Gandhi was re-elected as the Chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance. The meting of the UPA was held at 10 Janpath today. Pranab Mukherjee, AK Antony, P Chidambaram, M Karunanidhi, Mamatha Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah and others were present at the meeting.
M Karunanidhi proposed the name of Sonia Gandhi and Mamatha Banerjee seconded it. Sonia Gandhi was elected to the post unanimously.
The decision of Sonia Gandhi as the chairperson of UPA to agree to the demand of a separate Telangana has not been received kindly by the people in Andhra and Rayalaseema.

Sonia agrees to meet Jagan?
The congress party chief Sonia Gandhi is reported to have finally granted an audience to YS Jagan. According to congress party sources, Sonia Gandhi will meet Jagan on October 23, a day after the results to the three states; Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh are announced.
However Sonia is unlikely to take any decision in favour of Jagan in a hurry. It will be at best a courtesy call by Jagan. Jagan is also likely to call on PM Manmohan Singh, Pranab Mukherjee and Ahmed Patel. more

Sonia stunned by open rebellion
The congress part Chief Sonia Gandhi has been taken totally unawares by the strong protest by the party leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema on the issue of separate Telangana.
Sonia was confident that barring a few protests here and there would not be much resistance to her decision to agree for a separate Telangana. The way the party leaders have openly questioned her decision and are offering to resign in protest has come as a bog shock and blow to her.
Sonia visited Tirupati, Chittor and Anantapur today. Sonia was received grandly in all the places she visited. Mahila Saddassu in Tirupati is a grand success, almost 2 ½ lakh ladies attended the meeting. She opened IIIT in cuddapah and inaugurated Rajiv Gandhi statue. After having dinner at YSR house in his idupalapallem estate she attended the meeting in Anantapur. 5 Lakh people attended for Anantapur meeting. She was very surprised when she came to know that all the people who attended the meeting are from Anantapur District.
