Ingredients:
Toor dal 100gms Water 500 ml Salt 1 tsp Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp Onion(Sliced) 50gms Tomatoes(chopped) 125gms Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp Asafoetida 1/4 tsp Red chilies 2 Curry leaves 6-8 Mustard 1/2 tsp Garlic(crushed or chopped) 4 flakes Coconut powder 1 tsp Sambhar powder 2tsp Tamarind paste 3/4 tbsp Ghee 1 tbsp

Directions:
Wash and soak the dal in water for 1 hour.Drain and keep aside Boil the dal with water, salt and turmeric powder in a 1 litre bowl on 100% power for 7mins till it starts to boil. Reduce the power level to 80% and cook partially covered for 25mins. Stir 2-3 times during cooking. Mix it well and keep it covered for 5mins Heat ghee in a 2 litre deep bowl on 100% power for 1 1/2 mins Add the cumin seeds, asafoetida, dry red chilies , curry leaves, mustard and garlic and microwave on 100% power for 1 min Add the sliced onions to it and microwave on 100% power for 5mins till tender. Stir once during cooking Add the coconut powder. Mix well and add the tomatoes and little salt(if required). Mix well and cook on 100% power for 3mins To this add the boiled dal, sambhar powder and a little water and microwave partially covered on 100% power for 3mins or till it starts to boil Dissolve the tamarind paste in 1 tbsp water and add to the boiling dal . Mix well and microwave partially covered on 80% power for 3mins Serve hot with plain rice.
